The emergence and violations of human rights are no big joke; to make people more aware of an individual’s fundamental rights, we need to increase our effort. Though challenging, there are many simple ways to encourage human rights awareness, starting in your workplace.
Study human rights problems
You never advocate a cause unless you have complete knowledge about it; first, understand the problems people are facing in the world or the place you work. If you bear even a little false information, you might not be able to demand the accurate implementation of human rights.
The United Nations and news organizations with good track records should be your choice to gain correct statistics on human rights violations. Also, be aware of the surroundings and see how human rights are being defied.Remember that you can’t be impulsive; learn with patience and responsibility.
Learn to speak about the discrimination
Whenever you choose to stay quiet, if you see someone facing discrimination, you are helping in negligence of human rights. One good thing you can do if you want to make people aware of fundamental rights that one possesses you should always speak out against discrimination(i.e., racism or sexual misconduct, even destructive behavior of someone superior) against your colleague, co-worker, or even a stranger.
Helping human rights organizations is the most considerable help you can do if you want to support human rights. Many human rights organizations are not government-supported, which is why donating to them is essential so that they can work on their mission more clearly. However, learn about the organization beforehand as some are scams occasionally.
Protest against the people who are upholding human rights
Governments often fail to guard and protect the fundamental rights of their people, leading to the human rights crisis. The best thing you can do is to protest against the organization or person lacking in giving an individual their fundamental rights. This protest can be any form, be it a single tweet or a letter to a human rights organization.
But these are essential steps; recently, we have seen a surge in violation of human rights regarding immigrants and refugees; many individuals are working for the betterment of refugees and the immigrant crisis by providing them essential support.
