After a recent record-breaking hike, the price of gold in Bangladesh has seen a slight reduction. The price of the highest quality 22-carat gold has been lowered by BDT 1,259, bringing it down to BDT 137,449 per bhori.
This change was announced on Saturday, September 27, in a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, Chairman of the Pricing and Monitoring Standing Committee of the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS). The reduction in prices is attributed to a drop in the price of raw (liquid) gold in the local market, prompting BAJUS to adjust rates accordingly. The new prices will take effect starting Sunday.
As per the revised rates, a Vori of 22-carat gold is now priced at BDT 137,449, while 21-carat gold has decreased by BDT 1,201, setting the new price at BDT 131,197 per bhori. Similarly, the price for 18-carat gold has dropped by BDT 1,038 to BDT 112,453 per bhori, and the traditional (Sanatan) method gold now costs BDT 92,286 per Vori after a reduction of BDT 874.
This reduction comes shortly after consecutive price hikes on September 25, 24, 21, and 14.
