Hosts Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 18 runs in the first match of the two-match Test series on Thursday (November 25). Centurion Dimuth Koranaratne was the best in the match.
The Windies were bowled out for 180 in the second innings at Gaul International Stadium with a target of 347 runs. Earlier, Sri Lanka made 36 and 191 in two innings. The Windies scored 230 in their first innings.
In the first innings, Dimuth Koranaratne’s century, Dhananjaya de Silva and Pathum Nisankar’s half-century added 37 runs. Karunaratne made 146 runs in 15 fours from 300 balls. This is his 13th century in the elite format of cricket. Silva scored 61 and Nisanka 56 runs. Roston Chase took 5 wickets for 63 runs for West Indies. Sri Lanka declared their second innings at 191 for four. Karunaratne added a big score to the board in this innings. 83 runs came from his bat in 104 balls. Angelo Mathews made 69 off 64 balls. Rahkhim Cornwall and Wariken took two wickets each for the Windies. In the second innings for the Windies, 6 runs came from the bat of Enkrumah Bonar.
