The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and Inquilab Platform organized a long march from Comilla to Dumboor Dam in Tripura. On September 6 (Friday), at 5:30 PM, the student masses began their journey from Comilla Town Hall towards Dumboor Dam.
It was reported that this program was organized to protest the construction of dams by India and the arbitrary control of river flow on the Bangladesh-India border, allegedly violating international law. On the same day, the Inquilab Platform initiated the long march with at least 10 trucks full of student participants from Dhaka. Later, at 3:00 PM, after a brief rally at Comilla Town Hall, the march towards Dumboor Dam in Tripura began.
The rally saw participation from students of Comilla University, people from various professions, and different political organizations. During the rally, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and Inquilab Platform condemned India’s activities as water terrorism and presented five demands.
These demands included raising the issue of dam removal at international forums, urgently signing the UN Watercourse Convention of ’97, implementing the Teesta Master Plan, preparing a new list of cross-border rivers, and seeking justice for all border killings.
Sharif Usman Hadi, the central coordinator of Inquilab Platform, said, “Today’s long march is dedicated to our brother Abrar Fahad, who was killed by the fascist government for speaking out against India’s water terrorism. We have overthrown the fascist government. Now it’s time to build resistance against India’s aggression. India’s bullets do not distinguish between Hindus and Muslims in Bangladesh. These bullets must be stopped.”
