Hundreds of thousands of Americans suffering are still suffering from coronavirus symptoms a month or more later. These symptoms include headache, nervous and muscle pain, shortness of breath, high cholesterol, restlessness, weakness, and high blood pressure. They did not suffer from suffering these symptoms before being infected with corona. A large-scale study of long-term symptoms in patients with corona has suffering revealed such information.
Patients suffering from the symptoms
The study included health insurance documents for about 2 million Americans infected with the coronavirus last year. Studies have shown that 23 percent (about one-fourth) of Americans suffer from new symptoms a month or more after the infection. They have taken him to the hospital for treatment. Infected people included people of all ages, including children. Symptoms seen after infection include nervous and muscle pain, shortness of breath, high cholesterol, restlessness, weakness, and high blood pressure. Other symptoms include headaches, skin problems, heart disease, sleep problems, anxiety, and depression.
Twenty-six percent of patients with mild to moderate coronary heart disease had coronary heart disease.
Coronary artery disease is more common in asymptomatic patients
The study evaluated the data provided by 19 lakh 59 thousand 972 patients. It showed that more than half of the patients were asymptomatic. Although 40 percent had symptoms, there was no need for hospitalization. Of these, 1 percent of patients lost taste and smell. 5 percent of the patients had to be hospitalized.
Gelbard said this suggests that asymptomatic corona patients may suffer from long-term corona-subsequent symptoms. He said the findings would help physicians and patients to think in new ways. Patients with symptoms that have never occurred in the past may have coronary-postoperative symptoms. Maybe that patient doesn’t know he’s infected with corona. Health workers can think anew about the treatment of such patients. The study found that 4,54,046 patients suffered from various symptoms a month or more after the corona infection.
Positive aspects of research He said the positive aspect of this study is its wide range. In addition, the study included the effects of the disease on patients of all ages. He said it was difficult to conduct such research with so much information. Ziad al-Ali, head of research and development at VA St. Louis Healthcare Systems, said the study showed that the long-term effects of corona can affect any part of the body. Even some of these symptoms can be lifelong.
No more symptoms
Long-term symptoms of coronary heart disease include increased pain in the nervous system and muscles, the new study found. About one lakh patients are suffering from such symptoms. In other words, 5 percent of patients suffering from post-corona symptoms have this problem. And 3 and a half percent of patients are suffering from respiratory problems. And 3 percent of patients suffer from symptoms such as restlessness and weakness.
The study also found that 3 percent of people between the ages of 40 and 50 suffer from high cholesterol and 2.4 percent suffer from high blood pressure as post-coronary symptoms.
Which is not in the study
Helen Chu said the study did not include low-income patients who did not have health insurance. Al-Ali said the study did not say how long such symptoms could last and to what extent the patient would go to the doctor.
Fair Health also acknowledges the limitations of the study, saying that many patients may already have high cholesterol or high blood pressure.
Another limitation of the study is that those who did not have corona, those who did not have a corona with such symptoms, did not have a comparative observation of the symptoms. It found that patients with coronary heart disease had an 80 percent increased risk of death.
The Fair Health study did not include symptoms in patients with cancer, kidney disease, HIV, liver disease, and hemorrhagic disease in the brain. Researchers say that in such patients, it is difficult to distinguish between pre-and post-corona symptoms.
