The foreign ministers of Russia, China, Pakistan and Iran met in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, on Thursday to discuss the current situation in war-torn Afghanistan and regional security. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the best way to establish peace and stability in Afghanistan is to work with the Taliban and encourage them to form an inclusive government and protect women’s rights, CNN reported.

“The Taliban have established full control over Afghanistan,” Prime Minister Imran Khan told CNN from his residence in Islamabad on Wednesday. If they can work to form an inclusive government with all parties, peace can return to the country. If they go the wrong way, we fear that the country may be in turmoil. The Pakistani prime minister said the Taliban was seeking international help to avert a crisis.

Imran Khan said, “People will not support any puppet government in Afghanistan. Taliban government has clearly realized that they cannot stop the crisis without the help of the international community.

According to Reuters, Russian President Vladimir Putin told a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on Friday that his country needed to work with the Taliban government. He made the call at a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.  Gary Rice, a spokesman for the agency, told reporters that they would support remittances and short-term funding in Afghanistan.
