Types of Concrete Waterproofing

You can waterproof the positive (exterior) side, the negative (interior) side, or from inside the concrete itself to make concrete truly waterproof, which means both preventing water passage and resisting hydrostatic pressure (integral systems). 4. Admixtures:

5. Crystalline Admixtures:

Usually, crystalline based systems come in a dry powder shape. In reality, crystalline structures use available water to grow crystals within the concrete, effectively closing the moisture channels that can damage the water barrier itself.

Crystals align in a three-dimensional array during the crystallization process, which fractures when exposed to extreme movement.
