47th BCS Preliminary Exam Likely in May

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the tentative schedule for the 47th BCS preliminary examination. According to current plans, the exam is expected to take place in May 2025. However, the final decision on the date has yet to be confirmed.

Sources within the PSC revealed that the commission has developed a specific roadmap for each BCS examination. According to this roadmap, the preliminary test for the 47th BCS is scheduled for May. However, the timeline may shift depending on the senior-scale promotion exams for civil service cadre officers, which are also being considered for the same month.

Speaking anonymously, a PSC official shared, “There is a proposal to hold the senior scale promotion exams in May. If that happens, the 47th BCS preliminary exam may be slightly delayed. On the other hand, if the senior scale exams are deferred, the preliminary exam will proceed in May as planned.”

When approached for confirmation, PSC’s Public Relations Officer, S.M. Matiur Rahman, stated, “The preliminary examination for the 47th BCS is planned for May, but the date hasn’t been finalized yet. Once a decision is finalized, it will be officially announced through a notification.”

The 47th BCS circular has announced a total of 3,487 cadre positions. On the other hand, there are 201 non-cadre positions, making it one of the largest recruitments with 3,688 positions up for grabs.

It is said that candidates must be between the ages of 21 and 32 as of November 1, 2024, to qualify for this BCS. Applications from candidates outside this age range will not be accepted. The application process for this exam began on December 29, 2024.
