#SaveBangladesiHindus Trending on Twitter after PM Left from Bangladesh

The Hindu Minority of Bangladesh is now under attack after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh. A large number of people from the Hindu community started #SaveBangladesiHindus, #SaveHindus, and #SaveHindusinBangladesh trends on Facebook and Twitter.

As per the Prothom Alo Report, Following the news of the government’s resignation, various incidents of attacks on the homes, places of worship, and businesses of religious minorities occurred in several areas on Monday.

In Natore, Dhaka’s Dhamrai, Patuakhali’s Kalapara, Shariatpur, and Faridpur, Hindu temples were attacked. Jessore, Noakhali, Meherpur, Chandpur, and Khulna, homes were targeted. In addition, in Dinajpur, 40 shops belonging to Hindus were vandalized. Additionally, an Ahmadiyya place of worship in Taraganj, Rangpur, was also attacked and vandalized.

Hindu Attack 2024 on Jessore

In Jessore, over fifty Hindu homes were attacked, vandalized, set on fire, looted, and robbed. These incidents occurred from yesterday afternoon to this morning. Many residents fled their homes out of fear.

Witnesses and some homeowners reported that hundreds of people attacked at least 25 shops in the Narikelbari market in Bagharpara upazila. Among these, 20 shops were owned by Hindus. The attackers vandalized the shops and looted their goods.

Noakhali

In Noakhali’s Hatia upazila, attacks, vandalism, and looting were reported at three minority homes and four businesses. In Sonadia upazila, the home of Sahadev Saha, president of the Upazila Hindu Parishad, was attacked and vandalized. Additionally, women were reportedly beaten. Despite calls to the Hatia police station and the Coast Guard, no one came to the scene, reported Prothom Alo.

Dhaka’s Dhamrai

In the Gangutia Union’s Barbari area of Dhamrai, a group of 100 to 150 people attacked the home of Meena Rani Das last evening. The attackers broke the main iron gate, the gate to the tin house, and several windows in three rooms next to the veranda. They also damaged several chairs in front of the Durga temple and shattered the glass of two private cars in the garage.

Patuakhali’s Kuakata

In Kuakata, there was an attack on the home of Ananta Mukherjee, the joint general secretary of the Kuakata Municipal Awami League, and the nearby temple. The incident happened around 4:30 PM yesterday.

Ananta Mukherjee accused BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists of organizing a procession in Kuakata Municipality after hearing the news of the government’s resignation. The procession headed towards his house, and at one point, people from the procession attacked his home.

They entered his house and destroyed everything inside. The attackers also targeted the temple next to his house, damaging its doors and windows.
