Primary Schools to reopen tomorrow; DPE

Primary Schools in the country will reopen tomorrow, Wednesday (August 14). The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Bangladesh has directed the necessary steps to reopen primary schools across the country that were closed following student and public protests.

This information was issued today, Tuesday (August 13). The notice was signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Satyajit Roy Das, instructing officials at the district and upazila levels to take the required actions.

The letter stated that all primary educational institutions under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education will resume their classes at full capacity. The previous office order issued on August 3 by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has been revoked.

The letter further instructed that all government primary schools, Child Welfare Trust-managed Child Welfare Primary Schools, and Learning Centers under the Non-Formal Education Bureau under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education are to resume their classes in full swing.

Earlier, Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar, Advisor to the Interim Government for Primary and Mass Education, stated that the government would work towards realizing the demands for a discrimination-free society as raised by students and the public.

He emphasized that primary education is the foundation of any nation, and unfortunately, it does not receive the importance it deserves in our country. He assured that this issue will be given due attention.
