Dumboor Dam is responsible for Feni district flood? Here’s all you need to know

A major flood has hit the northern parts of Feni, affecting more than 100 villages in the upazilas of Fulgazi, Parshuram, and Chhagalnaiya. Over 100,000 people are in trouble as roads, homes, and fields have been submerged under water. People are now desperately looking for safe places to stay.

The water levels in the Muhuri, Kohua, and Silonia rivers have risen above the danger level, making the situation worse.

In Fulgazi Upazila, more than 40 villages in Sadar Union, Anandapur, Munshirhat, and Amjadhat unions are flooded. In Parshuram Upazila, over 45 villages, including Mirzanagar, Chithlia, Boxmahmud, and parts of the town, are underwater. Similarly, several villages in Chhagalnaiya Upazila, including those in Pathan Nagar, Radhanagar, and Shubhapur unions, are facing heavy flooding.

In these areas, roads, ponds, and fields have disappeared under water. In some places, the floodwaters have even reached the roofs of houses, forcing people to move to higher ground. Local authorities and volunteer organizations are working hard to provide food and help to the people affected by the flood.

Meanwhile, a post is widely shared on Facebook in the name of Dumboor Dam. Dumboor is a lake located in Tripura, India.

A red alert has been issued as the water level in the Muhoor River in Feni has surpassed records from the last 40 years. The situation has escalated due to the opening of the gates of the Dumboor Hydroelectric Power Project in Tripura, India. The last time India opened these gates was in 1993.

Unfortunately, there is little hope that the floodwaters will recede soon. The release of water from Tripura’s Dumboor gate has caused severe flooding in the districts of Feni, Comilla, Noakhali, and Lakshmipur. This situation could become even more serious, affecting more areas.

People from these regions are urged to come forward and help in any way they can. We ask everyone to pray for the safety and well-being of those in Noakhali, Greater Noakhali, Lakshmipur, and Feni.

Only Allah’s divine power can protect us from this disaster. Please keep these regions in your thoughts and prayers.
