BNP’s Fakhrul Urges Interim Government to Consider Army Magistracy Powers

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stated that the army should be granted magistracy powers in areas beyond government control. He made this remark during a meeting with the families of martyrs and the injured in a program organized by the Thakurgaon District BNP at the District Press Club on Thursday, September 19, at around 11:30 AM.

Fakhrul raised concerns that granting magistracy powers in districts where law and order are stable, and political figures are present, could lead to new problems. He urged the interim government to carefully consider the decision.

He further added, “We have endured 16 years of repression with the sole aim of removing the Hasina government and establishing a people’s government. We are all hopeful that the interim government will clear the way and create an environment for a free and fair election where everyone can participate.”

The meeting was attended by members of 33 injured families, to whom Fakhrul provided financial support.

Later in the afternoon, Fakhrul was scheduled to address a public rally at Ranisankail Degree College ground in Thakurgaon as the chief guest.
