Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has left the country amid the unrest sparked by the quota reform movement. Indian media outlet NDTV reported this news.
On Monday (August 5) at 2:30 PM, a military helicopter departed from Bangabhaban with Sheikh Hasina on board. Her younger sister, Sheikh Rehana, was also with her. Sources indicate they headed towards West Bengal, India.
AFP reported that Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana have moved to a safe location from Ganabhaban. Sheikh Hasina intended to record a speech before leaving but did not get the opportunity to do so.
