The fourth phase of the preliminary admission process for the 2023-24 academic year in the 24 universities under the GST (General, Science, and Technology) cluster is set to begin this week. The University Grants Commission’s (UGC) investigation committee found no evidence of irregularities in the admission process, which had previously been suspended due to complaints. As a result, the GST Admission Committee has decided to expedite the process and start classes soon.
Professor Dr. ZM Parvez Sajjad, Vice-Chancellor of Kishoreganj’s Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University and Convener of the GST Admission Committee, confirmed this on Monday, September 23. He told The Daily Campus, “The investigation committee did not find any proof of the allegations against the GST admission process. The investigation concluded on Sunday, and the fourth phase of admissions, which had been on hold, will be released this week.”
He also added that the fourth phase of admissions will be completed within this month. Multiple committee meetings are scheduled for this Thursday to finalize the details. Universities under the GST system are expected to begin classes from next week, depending on their individual schedules.
Earlier, on September 17, UGC’s investigation committee decided to temporarily halt all admission activities amid allegations of irregularities in the GST universities’ admission process. The committee members stated that no modifications or updates to the admission server could be made until further instructions were issued.

This delay caused frustration among students who had already been admitted or were awaiting admission. Many complained that their admission process had been halted for “unreasonable” reasons, and despite the promise of a report within 15 days, no update was provided. Meanwhile, classes at other universities had already begun, leaving GST-bound students unsure about when their academic sessions would start. Some students had even rented accommodations, not knowing when they would need them.
The investigation committee, consisting of five members, was formed by the UGC upon the Education Ministry’s directive. The committee was initially given 15 working days to submit its findings regarding the alleged irregularities.
The final migration process for the GST universities was completed on September 3, after which the fourth phase of admissions was supposed to begin. However, the release of the admission list had been postponed. Further updates and details about the admission process can be found on the official GST admission website at gstadmission.ac.bd.
