Sarjis calls on students to step back from traffic duties

Sarjis Alam, the central coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has urged students to step back from their responsibilities related to managing traffic. He made this appeal during a press conference on Friday (August 16) at 11 AM.

Addressing the incident that occurred at Dhanmondi 32 on Thursday, Sarjis stated that the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement cannot prevent anyone from laying flowers in Dhanmondi in observance of August 15. He emphasized that those responsible for creating unrest in the area would face consequences.

Sarjis recalled that in 2013, the Awami League, through the police, had introduced the practice of forcing individuals to do sit-ups while holding their ears during a Hefazat-e-Islam rally. He clarified that such actions are not aligned with the objectives of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

He further addressed the attack on the vehicle of Bongobir Kader Siddiqui, stressing that no one has the right to carry out such an attack. Sarjis warned that if any coordinator or other individuals were found to be involved, they would face expulsion and legal action.

The central coordinator also raised allegations that the Awami League and Chhatra League might have engaged in controversial activities in disguise in connection with the observance of August 15.
