Punjab National Bank to Close Some Accounts

Punjab National Bank (PNB) has issued a warning to customers about inactive bank accounts. The bank said it will close some accounts that have had no transactions for more than three years.

The warning applies to accounts with a zero balance. It covers accounts that had no transactions for three years as of June 30, 2026. PNB said these accounts will be closed after September 13.

PNB shared the warning through its official account on X, formerly known as Twitter. The bank also told customers how they can keep their accounts active before the deadline.

Why is PNB closing these accounts?

PNB said some accounts have not been used for three years and have no money in them. The bank said such inactive accounts may create a risk of misuse.

To reduce these risks, the bank has decided to close accounts that meet the stated conditions. The move is aimed at accounts with no transactions and a zero balance.

How can customers keep their accounts active?

Customers whose accounts have been inactive for three years or more must reactivate them before September 13. PNB said they need to visit the concerned bank branch for this process.

Customers must submit their KYC documents at the branch and complete the account reactivation process. KYC means Know Your Customer, a process banks use to confirm customer details.

PNB also advised customers to contact their bank branch if they are unsure about the status of their account. The bank asked customers to take action as soon as possible.

PNB shares helpline numbers

PNB has also shared toll-free numbers for customers who need help with the process. The numbers are 1800-1800 and 1800-2021.

The bank said customers should check their account status and complete the required process before the deadline if their account falls under the warning.
