The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has cancelled the candidacy of seven candidates in the 50th BCS examination. The action was taken over four types of rule breaks during the written test.
The information came in a notice signed by Masuma Afrin, Controller of Examinations at the Commission. The notice was issued on Tuesday, August 18.
The notice said the seven candidates broke the exam rules and orders. The Commission took action based on the reported violations.
One candidate entered the exam room with two smartphones and a smartwatch. Another candidate left the room before the set time. The candidate did not hand the answer script to the exam officer.
Four candidates were accused of copying during the written test. They were accused of writing answers after looking at another candidate’s full answer script.
The last candidate wrote objectionable content that had no link to the questions. The Commission treated this as a breach of the exam rules.
The Commission cancelled the 50th BCS exams of all seven candidates. It also placed further limits on the candidates after the exam action.
The seven candidates cannot take any exam held by the Commission during that year. They also cannot take any Commission exam in the next year.
The candidates have also been barred from applying for any post that the Commission advertises. These limits apply in addition to the cancellation of their exams.
The notice said the action was linked to rule breaks during the written test. It also listed the types of conduct that led to the action.
The case covers four types of violations in the written exam. These include the use of devices, leaving the room early, copying answers, and writing unrelated content.
The Commission’s notice has now set out the action against the seven candidates. No other details were given in the provided notice.
