Xiaomi 17 Max Debuts With 200MP Camera and 8,000mAh Battery

Xiaomi has launched the new Xiaomi 17 Max in China as the fourth model in its Xiaomi 17 series. The smartphone comes with a 200MP main camera, a large 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, and Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.

The Xiaomi 17 Max sits below the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max in the lineup. However, it offers a higher-resolution main camera and a bigger battery. The device does not include the secondary rear display found on the Pro Max model.

The phone features a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,608 × 1,200 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi says the panel can reach up to 3,500 nits peak brightness. The display also includes a punch-hole cutout for the 32MP front camera and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

On the rear, the Xiaomi 17 Max uses Samsung’s HP9 sensor for its 200MP primary camera. The sensor supports optical image stabilisation (OIS), a dynamic range of up to 13.5EV, and an f/1.65 aperture. The camera setup also includes a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and macro support, along with a 50MP ultra-wide camera.

The smartphone runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. It also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The phone comes with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage.

One of the main highlights is the 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. Xiaomi claims the battery can deliver more than two days of normal usage on a single charge. The company also says the battery can retain up to 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 charging cycles, which is equal to more than four years of daily charging.

The Xiaomi 17 Max supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It also supports 22.5W reverse wired charging for powering other devices.

The smartphone is available in black, white, and blue colour options. In China, the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant starts at CNY 4,799, while the top-end 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model is priced at CNY 5,799.

Xiaomi has not yet announced global or India launch details for the Xiaomi 17 Max. More information about international availability may be shared in the coming weeks.
