Vivo X Fold 6 May Use MediaTek Chip, Camera Upgrade Tipped

Vivo is expected to launch the Vivo X Fold 6 in the coming months, and new leaks have revealed fresh details about the foldable smartphone. According to a Chinese tipster, the next Vivo foldable may use a MediaTek processor instead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset.

The latest information was shared by tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The leak claims that the Vivo X Fold 6 could run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 processor. If true, this would be a major change for Vivo’s X Fold lineup, which has so far used Qualcomm chips.

Earlier reports suggested that the phone could launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. The current Vivo X Fold 5 uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, while the older Vivo X Fold 3 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.

The tipster also claimed to have seen a prototype of the Vivo X Fold 6. The device is said to feature a flat display with rounded corners and a large circular camera module on the rear panel. It may also include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Camera upgrades could be one of the biggest changes in the new model. The Vivo X Fold 6 is tipped to feature a triple rear camera setup with a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

This would be a notable improvement over the Vivo X Fold 5, which includes three 50-megapixel rear cameras.

The Vivo X Fold 5 was launched in India in July last year at a starting price of Rs. 1,49,999. The Vivo X Fold 6 is also expected to arrive around the same time this year. Like earlier Vivo foldables, the device is likely to launch first in China before reaching global markets, including India.

The upcoming foldable smartphone is also rumoured to pack a large 7,000mAh battery. Vivo has not yet confirmed any official launch date or hardware details for the device.
